There’s so much to do in Animal Crossing: New Horizons! From crafting and shopping for the latest outfits at Able Sisters to traveling in search of the perfect villagers, players can immerse themselves in countless fun activities. However, many may overlook Harv’s Island.

Harv is a laid-back dog character, and players can visit his island, which initially serves as a photography studio. Over time, as certain in-game conditions are met, Harv’s Island expands to include a plaza filled with unique shops and services. Here’s what you need to know about Harv and the secrets his island has to offer.

Becoming Friends with Harv

  • When players first arrive, go chat with Harv. He will let you know all about his photography studio.
  • His house features multiple rooms for decorating and photoshoots. Get creative and take some pictures!
  • You can even invite villagers to do photoshoots with.

Unlocking Shops on Harv’s Island

  1. After you become friends with Harv, go back to your island and make sure your island is at a three-star rating.
  2. K. Slider must perform on the player’s island after receiving the three-star rating.
  • Once all requirements are met, return to your friend Harv’s island and ask about the shops.
  • In the clearing behind his house, you will see Lloid’s place. Players can approach each one to see the cost required to complete the specific shop.

Available Shops & Services

Harriet

For veteran Animal Crossing players, you will remember her. This poodle provides a random look reminiscent of Wild World salon experiences.

Kicks

Despite being a skunk, he does not sell smelly shoes. Kick offers shoes, socks, and bags.

Redd

Players may have encountered him selling scam art from his boat previously. Be leery of this guy.

Leif

I think he is just so cute! He is the guy for all your gardening needs and even offers weeding services.

Saharah

Unlike before where she roamed the island with unseen inventory, her shop now allows players to view her full stock of wallpapers and rugs.

Reese & Cyrus

Looking to customize furniture? Bring it here for a new look.

Katrina

This character tells money & friendship fortunes.

Tortimer

This turtle can give players access to home storage.

3.0 Update

There has been speculation about Harv’s Island in the 3.0 update. The island could potentially expand with vendor shops. It is unclear whether this means the existing shops will receive more items or if we will see new vendor shops added.

Even if we don’t get an upgrade to Harv’s Island in the 3.0 update, I’m still looking forward to the changes. Just a reminder: remember to keep your Switch on auto-update so you don’t miss out on the 3.0 update coming in January 15, 2026!

The update is available on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Learn more about the 3.0 update here.
