Unlocking Harriet gives you access to exclusive hairstyles you can’t get anywhere else in the game. In this guide, I’ll take you through exactly how to unlock Harv’s Island plaza and start getting free daily hairstyles from Harriet.

What is Harv’s Island?

• Harv’s Island is a sub-island players can travel to via the airport after meeting Harv on their main island.
• The island is a photo studio where players can create different scenes, customized photos, and invite islanders for photo shoots.
• Once players reach a 3-star island rating and attend the first K.K.-Slider concert, Harv’s Island will be expanded. This is when players can unlock NPCs like Harriet and other plaza store owners.

Who is Harriet?

For veteran Animal Crossing players, you may remember her. This poodle provides a random look reminiscent of Wild World salon experiences.

In New Horizons, Harriet appears on Harv’s Island once the co-op area is unlocked after reaching a 3-star island rating.

She’s no longer running the Shampoodle salon! Instead, she offers something even better: FREE daily haircuts that unlock new, exclusive hairstyles for your character.

Unlocking Harriet

1.Unlock Harv’s Island Plaza

• Progress your island until you unlock K.K. Slider’s concert. A 3-star island rating is required.
• After, Harv will send you a letter inviting you back to his island.
• Visit Harv’s Island from the airport to trigger the plaza expansion.

2. Locate the Plaza

• When you arrive, go past the photo studio to the back of the island.
• Here, you will find several empty shop plots being held by Lloids.

3. Unlock a Shop

• Talk to a Lloyd of your choosing.
• Each shop requires a donation of bells, which is normally 100,000 Bells.
• To unlock Harriet’s hairstyle services, you only need to unlock one shop for her to begin.

4. The Next Day

• In typical ACNH fashion, you have to wait until the next day or “time-hop” to the next day once you pay the entire balance to the Lloyd. I’ll talk about time-hopping soon!
• Return back to your island after you pay the entire balance and wait for the next day.
• The next day, travel back to Harv’s Island. Harriet will usually be sitting on a stool somewhere in the plaza.

Getting FREE Hairstyles

Talk to Harriet, and she will offer to practice her skills on you.

• The haircut is completely free! There aren’t a lot of free items in ACNH (we all know Tom Nook is a crook).
• You’ll learn a new hairstyle each time you accept.
• Players can only receive one new hairstyle per day.

Once Harriet is done, the hairstyle will be added to your customization options.

What If You Don’t Like the Look?

If you remember going to the Shampoodle in Wild World, you know that Miss. Harriet was giving outrageous cuts back then. It’s safe to say she might not always give players the best styles.

• No worries! You’re not stuck with the hairstyle.
• You can immediately change your hairstyle with Harriet for free.
• If you choose to leave Harv’s Island with the unflattering cute, change your look with using a mirror or vanity.

NEW Hairstyles

Harriet offers a total of 7 exclusive hairstyles.

• Players can collect the all.
• Visit Harv’s Island daily and receive a new haircut.
• Players must accept the haircut to unlock the styles.

Once players have unlocked all styles from Harriet, she will no longer offer new once, but they can keep everything they’ve learned.

Tips

1. Visit Harv’s Island Daily. Don’t skip days if you want to receive the styles quickly.

3. Use mirrors and vanities. Experiment with your new hairstyles at any time. Get creative with different colors and customizations.
